The Z1 Flow Meter’s clamp-on design makes installation straightforward and user friendly. Installation can be performed in minutes and requires just a few simple tools. The best part? We make sure you have everything you need to be successful. 

Included Installation Tools:

The provided zip ties are durable and ensure that your installation will not degrade over time, i.e., they won’t loosen.

The provided tensioning tool clamps the meter on to the pipe more effectively than hand-tightening can.

Common Challenges:

Our installation guide offers step-by-step instructions on how to install the meter to ensure longevity and quality of connection. You will receive a printed installation guide with your shipment, and you may have already received a PDF version via email.

That said, we know things don’t always go as planned, so we’ve outlined some common challenges below and provided troubleshooting tips to address each one.

1. Meter is loose on the pipe.
   1. The provided tensioning tool should ensure that your meter gets snugly clamped on to the pipe. Please use only the provided tensioning tool to perform installation. 
   2. The meter should barely move once clamped on to the pipe. Once you’ve tightened the zip ties, hold the meter between your thumb and forefinger, and gently try to jostle or slide the meter. If the meter can move, the zip ties are not tight enough. It should feel difficult to wiggle the meter more than a few millimeters in any direction. 
   3. If you’ve snipped the excess off of the zip tie tails but the meter still feels loose, please use a pair of wire cutters (not included) to carefully detach the meter from the pipe. Be careful not to drop the meter if you are required to detach it. Use the provided spare zip ties to reinstall the meter, and ensure it gets a snug fit before snipping the zip tie tails.

2. Rubber sensor pads are obstructed in some way.
   1. Depending on your access to the pipe (crawl spaces can be pretty cramped!), the meter may tighten crooked to the pipe. To the best of your ability, ensure the meter is centered on the pipe so the rubber sensor pads can come into direct contact with the pipe wall.
   2. If there is debris on the pipe (such as dried paint, grease, water, rust, or cement), the debris will interfere with the rubber sensor pads. The sensor pads are essential to the meter’s functionality, so please ensure the pipe is completely clean and dry before affixing the device to the pipe. Under no circumstances should the sensor pads be removed or tampered with, as this will permanently damage the meter.

3. Pipe configuration is incorrect.
   1. It can be difficult to verify your pipe’s size and material. Because SimpleSUB Water relies on a software-driven approach, we can remotely program your meter, if needed, to update the pipe configuration. 
   2. If your meter’s pipe configuration is incorrect, the pipe setup is likely to fail. In this case, please contact [e-mail] and provide your property name and the unit information so we can reprogram your meter ASAP.
